The importance of waste data
Your waste data provides us with insights into patterns, trends, and potential inefficiencies for any given site. Without this valuable data it can be difficult to identify areas of improvement or understand our customers trends in waste generation.
How we collect data
Recorra collects data by weighing your waste using both off-site and on-site weighing systems.
For off-site weighing, all our recycling collection vehicles have onboard weighing technology. Each tipped bin is weighed twice. First on the way up, second on the way down to gain the weight of an empty bin. We also have a weighbridge that weighs all vehicles when they leave and enter our Materials Recovery Facility at Purfleet. This provides data of what we collect from customers and send to re-processors. Collections made from a site using skip or RoRo (Roll-on Roll-off) containers are weighed on a weighbridge at the disposal point. For general waste this is Cory, while for recyclable material this our facility at Purfleet.
For on-site weighing we primarily use SmartWeigh, an easy-to-use weighing technology that integrates seamlessly with Recorra’s portal. All our bins and skips are chipped, weighed, and auto allocated to each site. For sites with multiple tenants, we use barcoded sacks to provide weight data by location, user, container, and waste stream. It’s patent-pending Kiosk Mode speeds up traditional weighing methods saving money for clients.
Beyond SmartWeigh we also use Weightron when requested by customers who want to continue using familiar systems.
We have also partnered with Limetrack to assist in developing their patent-pending solution for self-weighing bins. One of Limetrack’s selling points is that the technology lets customers track their food waste with incredible accuracy. Limetrack breaks down whether the food is prep waste, spoilage, and plate waste. We are currently still in trial period, but we hope to launch it as part of SmartWeigh’s SelfWeigh solution.
All waste data is logged on PRADA, our MIS (management information system) which is integrated with the portal, so the logged data is automatically available for viewing.
