Before we partnered with Rosewood, multiple waste management companies serviced the hotel. This would cause issues with coordination, communications, and the accuracy of waste reporting. Rosewood’s main goals were improving sustainability, increasing staff knowledge, winning sustainability awards, and improving recycling rates, which averaged around 40%.

As Rosewood’s sole waste management provider, Recorra improved site efficiency and reporting while delivering a range of initiatives to boost recycling and staff engagement:

• Hosted Lunch & Learn sessions on waste segregation, increasing materials diverted into mixed recycling rather than general waste.

• Produced training videos on effective waste management, now part of Rosewood’s mandatory staff training.

• Introduced the Circular Box service to recycle used corks.

• Conducted waste composition analyses to identify opportunities for improvement in waste production.

• Delivered an innovative recycling solution for workwear, transforming old uniforms into high-end fashion garments.

Rosewood is aiming to achieve an average recycling rate of 65%, building on the progress already made. As part of this ambition, they are revamping their Green Teams to strengthen sustainability engagement and embed best practice across the business. They are also maintaining a strong focus on keeping contamination rates low, ensuring the recycling collected is of high quality and can be effectively processed.
