Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) is a recycling stream that allows multiple clean, dry recyclable materials to be collected in one bin rather than separated at the point of disposal. It typically includes items such as paper, cardboard recycling, plastic recycling, metal cans, and cartons, provided they are free from food, liquids, and contamination.
Dry Mixed Recycling collections are taken to Recorra’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where they are sorted and processed into individual material streams for recycling. Your Mixed Recycling service makes recycling simpler and more convenient, especially for businesses, while helping to reduce waste sent to landfill.
Dry mixed recycling is a vital practice that not only simplifies waste management but also plays a crucial role in promoting sustainability and reducing environmental impact. By implementing effective recycling practices, organisations can contribute positively to their communities and the planet.
Yes. Items should be rinsed and/or wiped so they are free from food or grease, otherwise they will contaminate the rest of the recycling.
Paper towels have a water absorbent agent which means it can only be recycled through a specialist process, so therefore must be separated from other materials. We provide a separate paper towel recycling service.
Flexible plastics cannot be included in Mixed Recycling because they are difficult to separate from other materials using traditional sorting technology. Instead, our Circular Box service is designed to recycle these materials by segregating them at the source.
Glass breaks in the sorting process, posing a health risk to workers, and may damage the sorting equipment and reduce the quality of other recycled materials.
